Kelly Rasmussen, Medford attended Southern Oregon University from 1979 to 1981. In 1985, he decided to pursue his studies at the Institute of Certified Travel Agents and subsequently earned his Certified Traveler Counter accreditation. Kelly started working for Jackson Travel in 1981 where he built up a reputation as a trusted corporate travel specialist. The Rasmussen Family started Jackson Travel in 1979 and the Medford, Oregon-based company to this day is still family owned and operated. His father, also involved in the travel industry, was able to teach him the technical aspects of the industry that included understanding the complex and intricate language of airline ticketing. This allowed him to get the best pricing for his clientele, saving them 35 percent on their travel packages. His skills, talents and passions for the industry allow him to be one of the most knowledgeable corporate travel consultants in the world.
From 1994 to 1995, he decided to go back to school and began studies at Northwest Christian College. He obtained his bachelors in science degree with honors by achieving a solid GPA of 4.00. In December of 2010, Jackson Travel eventually became a subsidiary of Ensemble Travel Group, a consortium of over 900 well-respected travel agencies. Ensemble Travel Group is based in New York City and has offices in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, Canada. Additionally, Rasmussen has worked extensively in the travel event planning division of Jackson Travel. Aside from being active in the industry, Rasmussen has been heavily active in sports and other extracurricular activities. From 1978 to 1980, he was a part of the United States Racquetball Tour. As a heavily active racquetball player and coach, eventually Rasmussen leveraged his skills to become one of the most sought after racquetball coaches in the area. From 2006 to 2008, Rasmussen was the Racquetball Player of the Year for the state of Oregon as well as the State and Regional doubles champion and Pro-am doubles champion in multiple racquetball tournaments. To this day, Kelly is active in the conditioning and development of some of the best racquetball players in the nation. From 2004 to 2008, He served as the Head Team Sports Consultant for the Oregon State Racquetball team. From 2005 to 2008, he was part of the Medford Hall of Fame Board, Southern Oregon Fellowship of Christian Athletes Board and Rogue Valley Country Club Board. Rasmussen also served in high esteem as the Committee Chair for Programming and Marketing of the Britt Festivals Board, Chairman of the MeThinx Entertainment Board and a member of the Mercy Flights Board of Directors for Southern Oregon.
From 1986 to 2007, Rasmussen was active in the Medford Rogue Rotary. From 1987 to 2007, he maintained his position as an elder at the Applegate Christian Fellowship. Other civic accomplishments include being a member of the Southern Oregon University Raider board, Vice President and President of the Medford Linebackers (1996 to 2008), Chair of the Spiegleberg Foundation (1998 to 2006) and the Advisor to the National Office of the Northwest Region Youth for Christ Board (1998 to 2006).
