Hostile environment, dangerous for women As a former intern, I witnessed an employee (who still works at TCLF) sexually harass multiple coworkers, specifically targeting young women and using his position to wield power over them. This behavior was extremely disturbing, and Charles Birnbaum, the CEO, was fully aware of what was happening and REFUSED to intervene. Many interns and fellows come to TCLF, many of whom are young women, new to the DC area, and TCLF is their first job out of college or grad school. The predatory behavior of this employee is serious cause for concern, and I do not doubt that if no action is made that he will end up assaulting someone, if he hasn't already. Charles (and others) have continued, for years now, to employ this person and to defend his behavior. TCLF is a lawsuit waiting to happen. For these reasons (among others), I know of several graduate programs in related fields that now refuse to send their students to TCLF because they see their internship programs as putting students in harms way.
