Organization Does Great Work, Would Not Recommend Working Here 1. Inconsistent Expectations. I was never provided with an updated job description or job title, and often felt as though it was up to my discretion what projects I should work on. This would lead to confusion (ex. My job had formed into supervising our 9 high school interns but was told months later that I shouldn't be spending time making projects for them). I feel as though this lack of communication about expectations and job description/job title left the Executive Director frustrated with me-- leading to really anxiety provoking and bad conversations-- despite being given no direction. 2. Lack of Communication. I would get conflicting and contradicting information over the phone, over email, and in person and ended up taking extensive notes with every conversation I had with the ED to avoid being blamed for "miscommunication" that would ensue. 3. Lack of job training and orientation. I was never provided with an in-depth training or orientation for this job-- I was just expected to jump into working for them. I was expected to know how everything worked-- if I asked a basic question about organizational function I would be told "I don't have time for onboarding right now". For reference, I now work for an organization that provided me with a whole week of job training and orientation. 4. Organization needs more training on working with diverse populations (both with staff, and with patients) Management continuously misgendered a staff member. Staff asked for structural work to be done surrounding identity & race in the wake of aggressive white supremacist murders against black and brown people in the US, and management asked belittling and inappropriate questions. 5. BTTF is an organization where one major population we served was part-time or consultant employees who don't receive healthcare benefits & I, as an employee of BTTF, also qualified for the services because I did not receive healthcare.
