Thing to look out for
No systems in place. - Not organized. Not open to suggestions. -The owner comes to work late in the afternoon. Usually close to closing time and expects the employee to stay late. No consideration that the employees have life outside of work. You are expected to work for free when you stay late. -Owner wants to pay the employee as a 1099 contract worker so that he can save money on the taxes. -Owner will offer to pay you less than what you ask during the interview/market rate. The logic offered is that he has to first see if you know the job and if you?re worth the pay. He has done this to many employees in the past but never gives the promised pay no matter how long you work at the company. - No Insurance/benefits provided. - Owner is fickle and short tempered. (Yes, he yells) People have walked out of the job because of his behavior. -Owner will tell the employee to take care of things without bothering him. But then will get upset that he was not consulted for every single task.
