Seymour Zises is the President and Chief Executive Officer of wealth management firm Family Management Corporation.

Seymour Zises is an entrepreneur and financial advisor who is responsible for founding the highly successful Family Management Corporation. Along with his business partner Andrea Tessler, Seymour founded this New York-based registered investment advisory firm in 1989. Since its inception, it has continued helping high net worth individual investors, families and not-for-profit organizations with their financial needs.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Family Management Corporation has become one of the 118 largest (of 500+) registered investment advisors in the country , thanks to the efforts of Seymour and his team. Members of the Family Management Corporation team are experienced investment professionals who know how to tailor customized financial plans to meet their clients’ unique objectives.

The Family Management Corporation team utilizes a full array of financial products and planning tools to benefit their customers. This includes stocks, bonds, mutual funds and alternative investments such as hedge funds, insurance products and real estate.

Seymour Zises believes that the strength of his firm lies within the more than three decades of experience in assisting high net worth individuals and controlling over one billion dollars’ worth of assets. The Family Management Corporation team builds foundations with each client they service, and will work with them every step of the way.

By operating in this way, clients know that they will have someone to turn to when they are anticipating or preparing for major financial life transitions, such as getting married, beginning a family, launching or selling a business, saving for college, retiring or planning their estate. Family Management Corporation is there for its clients.

Seymour Zises emphasizes the fact that he and Andrea Tessler launched the firm based on a set of principals, which they still uphold to this day. An integral part of Family Management Corporation’s services involves developing a solid understanding of each client’s individual emotional profile. The informed professionals at the firm do their best to understand each client’s personal tolerance for risk and volatility in every kind of market.

Seymour and his team work diligently to find the best balance between risk and reward to suit their clients’ comfort level. Family Management Corporation knows how to use the right formula to generate a plan because the firm’s team knows that each client’s risk and reward profile is unique.

Family Management Corporation is an integral part of the Family Management Group of companies, which delivers overall financial counsel to families and their associated entities. Some of the affiliates in this group include a FINRA-registered broker-dealer, Family Management Securities LLC, and a New York state-licensed insurance agency, Forest Hill Capital Corporation.

Family Management Corporation is spearheaded by Seymour Zises, who founded the company partially based on his family tradition of service and hospitality.

Aside from his work with the firm, Seymour is also a former president of the Baron de Hirsch Fund and a past board member of UJA-Federation of New York. Seymour also served as Vice Chair of the Bronfman Center for Jewish Life at New York University. He was responsible for founding the Associates of the American Friends of the Israel Museum, and co-founding the Roundtable Political Action Committee. Along with these accomplishments, he has chaired major fundraising dinners for several organizations, including AIPAC.

Seymour Zises finds the time to get involved with other endeavors such as the Jaffa Institute, the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, Colel Chabad, the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services and the Israel Crisis Center. Seymour is the proud holder of a bachelor’s degree in political science from New York University.

It was not just Seymour who was responsible for the launch of Family Management Corporation. One of his closest partners and colleagues who helped him build and grow Family Management Corporation is Andrea L. Tessler, the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the firm.

Andrea completed her bachelor’s degree in economics at Cornell University, and has remained actively involved in supporting her alma mater for over 20 years. She currently serves on the Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences’ Advisory Council. In addition to this, Andrea served on the board of the All Stars Project, which is an association dedicated to creating educational and performing arts activities for thousands of underprivileged minorities.

Together with Andrea and the rest of his colleagues, Seymour Zises ensures that Family Management Corporation delivers the best service that the financial advisory industry has to offer. Clients can come to this firm and receive extensive investment advisory services, which consist of a thorough interview process and ongoing discussions. The firm aims to define its clients’ investment objectives and risk tolerances, and establish an appropriate strategy for managing accounts.

Family Management Corporation also provides comprehensive investment planning. Seymour Zises and his team recognize that there is no single investment style or asset class that suits every client’s preference. When managing risk across a client’s relevant accounts, the firm’s informed professionals consider diversification across styles and classes as well as among individual securities.

Clients can come to Family Management Corporation to get informed, professional advice on their asset allocation and financial reporting. While also managing money for its clients, the firm will track a client’s full investment portfolio and will offer concise financial reporting. According to Seymour, this overview helps him and his team counsel clients on crucial decisions that are essential to the well-being of their financial status.

For the past 25 years, Family Management Corporation has prospered in the New York region as a prominent financial services firm, and Seymour Zises is confident that it will continue to succeed well into the future. Seymour wants to offer his clients the highest quality performance and investment strategies, which he realizes is only possible by communicating with every single client to understand their financial wants and needs.

According to Seymour, communication is key to client satisfaction. The team at Family Management Corporation has witnessed a lack of communication in various service businesses; oftentimes the service providers do not have time to find out exactly what their clients want. It is crucial for service providers to sit down and to have a personalized discussion with each individual so that they can properly understand each other.

All too often, there are “solutions” that are presented to clients that do not actually solve any problems. They are only temporary fixes that offer short-term assistance. The reason they tend to fail in the long run is because the advisors fail to listen. Seymour Zises thinks that it is absolutely crucial for the advisor to listen and to care about every one of his or her clients’ needs. That way, they can ensure that they are offering the clients the very best possible service available.

Seymour believes that more people will come to Family Management Corporation for their investment needs once they realize how the informed professionals at the firm give the proper attention to each individual that walks through the door.
